August 13-14, 2023: Empowering Change: Reflecting on the Impact of the #roadMAPP Tour
During the weekend of August 13-14, 2023, the food and hospitality industry witnessed a transformative moment. With resounding support from sponsors like Pepsico, Delta Air Lines, Markham Vineyards, and Dough Wine, the 10-city #roadMAPP Tour embraced its mission to uplift women through food events, advocacy, mentorship, and opportunities.
Partnering with Wells Fargo, the tour not only granted scholarship MAPP memberships but also joined forces with "Just Call Me Chef," amplifying the voices of black women chefs.
In Baltimore, the tour's second stop celebrated black female small business owners, making a significant impact on nearly a quarter of a million people. Connecting five new MAPP members with local women-owned restaurants like Mera Kitchen Collective for a mentorship meal demonstrated the tour's dedication to tangible mentorship experiences.
Founder Joanna James exemplified commitment by providing financial support to select headlining chefs at the events opening their own restaurants. All participating restaurants and chefs included: Chef Jasmine Norton or The Urban Oyster, Chef Amanda Mack of Crust by Mack, Chef Catina Smith of Just Call Me Chef and Our Time Kitchen, The Veggie Table, Eat More Chauncey’s, and Black Betty’s Cuisine.
The #roadMAPP 10-city LIVE Tour's journey is an invitation for all to be part of this revolutionary movement, breaking barriers and fostering change in the culinary world and beyond. August 13-14, 2023, marked a moment when action and aspiration merged, leaving an indelible mark on the industry's future. Claim your seat at the table and be part of this empowering journey.
